Welcome to the review for a recent Batman / Superman: Worlds Finest issue, Batman / Superman World’s Finest #12. Batman and Superman are some of the most iconic and beloved superheroes in the DC universe, but this issue has a plot twist in store for us with Supergirl and Robin. The way our review scale works is based on our interpretation of the story, artwork, and Cover Options of the issue. Please beware with most reviews there is the possibility of spoiler alerts, so if you don’t want anything spoiled wait until after you’ve read to check out our review!
SCREAM OF THE CHAOS MONKEY
The secret behind the Supergirl-Robin feud, revealed! On a day not too long ago, a meeting between the Boy Wonder and the Girl of Steel began sweetly, became awkward, and ended so catastrophically, horrifically, jaw-droppingly, car-crashingly disastrously that, among the Superman and Batman families, it is now enshrined as the world’s finest example of How Not to Team Up!
How Are We Feeling After This Issue?
This issue starts off strong with a monkey getting loose and a man chasing his pet. However, the basis of this issue is that Robin and Supergirl go on a date after seeing each other in a different light fighting crime together. BSWF #12 is a fantastic one off filler issue that we didn’t know we needed.
The chemistry between Robin and Supergirl is fitting. The payoff at the end of the issue with the conversations that Supergirl and Superman have and also the conversation that Robin and Batman have are well worth the 32 pages that this issue brings us. I recently picked up World’s Finest, but I am glad I did because this is a solid issue and a must grab. If you are looking for a new series to get into, pick up this issue and enjoy the ride.

Cover Options
- Main Cover
- Dave Johnson Card Stock Variant
- 1:25 Max Dunbar Card Stock Variant
- 1:50 Sweeney Boo Card Stock Variant
Batman / Superman World’s Finest #12 has a decent line of Cover options and is the only place really lacking here. We start with the Main Cover option which is the go home cover issue for me in this set. The main cover by Dan Mora sets the issue up perfect, you get what you pay for on the face cover of this, a fantastic date from hell with Batman and Superman curious in the background.
We move on to the Cover B Dave Johnson Stock Variant Cover, this is one where we see Batman and Superman flying through the city on patrol. Feels like a basic Batman/Superman Cover, it is the cardstock so that is a plus when it comes to durability of the comic, however I feel like this cover overall is just alright.
The Cover C is the Max Dunbar 1:25 Card Stock Ratio Variant. In this one it appears that Toy Man is in the background sending a blitzkrieg of toys towards Batman and Superman. This is a solid cover is you collect 1:25 ratios and or are a Toy Man fan. He is putting in some work in the current Batman Chip Zdarksy side stories, so there you go.
Last we have the Sweeney Boo 1:50 Card Stock Ratio Variant. In this cover we see Superman and Batman in the background onlooking what appears to be a Young Justice League. I do enjoy Sweeney Boo’s Covers especially on the Catwoman series as of late, but this one feels a bit niche for a small group of collectors. If that’s your thing we hope you get your hands on this cover!
